If you play a receiver position in football, work on the basic fundamentals to the position. Catch the ball with both of your hands, but secure it by holding it close to your body and covering it with your arms. Run towards the end zone, but also keep tacklers to your back. This helps you keep the ball and prevent a fumble. Work on exercises that’ll boost your overall speed. During a football game, you’ll be asked to sprint a lot. This will definitely tax your body. You’ll be pushed during every game. To get ready for it, build sprints into practice sessions. It’ll help you perform the best that you can come game time. Nobody wants to make mistakes while playing football. But, there is no such thing as perfection, so mistakes do occur. Still, using what you have now learned to help you become a better player is ideal. You’ll be comfortable with your skills and learning more will help boost your confidence.
Learn how to control the things that you can control in the game and let go of the things that you cannot. If you drop a pass or let a receiver get by you, you need to learn how to let it go. Each play is different, if you mess up on one, do not let it control the rest of your game.
Size is good for football, but fat isn’t. Fat will only harm you as you get older, especially once you slow down your exercise habits. Work on building muscle and keeping fat to a minimum.
Don’t do any exercises until you know exactly how they are done properly. You can learn from your coach or from a trainer at a gym, but be sure to have them watch you do a few reps so that you are sure you are doing it right when you go all-in. A kicker can really help the team when he makes the kick. A field goal is your best option if your team has a time crunch in the last seconds of a game.
